Stylish jewelry is something I'm always on the lookout for. When there's an opportunity to make something, I jump at it! (But then again, don't we all?) This tutorial is super easy as long as you know how to braid! Let's get started!
The supplies are really basic.
- Jewelry Chain (I got mine at JoAnn's)
- Friendship String/Embroidery Floss (any colors)
- Pliers/Jewelry Cutters if your chain is really long (like mine was)
- Jump Rings
Take your string, in any color, and cut six, 30'' strips for each color. You can cut more or less than six strips of string, depending on how thick you want your bracelet to be. When every color is cut, separate each color three and three, and make two piles of each color. (resulting in 21 strings in each pile for me, because I used 7 colors.) Next, loop one group of string through the first link of the chain, and tie it off.
Separate the string into three section so that we can start the braid. Start braiding, making sure that you loop the group of string closest to the chain into the link. (I know... It's really confusing. I'm sorry!) If you continue that all the way down the chain, you should get this result.
Cut off the remainder of the string, if any, tie or (i superglued) the stray ends, and repeat the braiding process on the other side. Now I think it looks pretty cool with just one side done, but it also looks good with both sides done. I you want your bracelet to be more golden, braid one side. If you want it to be more colorful, go with both sides. (I'm in a rambling mood today, and I'm really sorry...) Add your jump rings and clasp, and you're all set my dears!
